- Proof
- The concentration of alcohol in the alcoholic beverage. 2 proof is equivalent to 1% alcohol by volume.
- Ratio
- A measure of equivalency. 15 units of swill, 10 units of grog, and 6 units of rum all contain the same amount of alcohol.
- Price/unit
- The price in pieces of eight per unit of product. You should enter the values found in the market.
- Value
- This tells you the relative values of the drinks weighted by their alcohol content. Lower is better.
- Amount
- Enter the amount of rum you would like to have and this will tell you the alcoholic equivalent amount of swill or grog.
- Cost
- Calculates the costs based on the price/unit and amount. This is how much you would spend for the number of units shown at the price you entered. Lower is better.
- An example
- Let's say the best prices on the market were 27, 39, and 69 for swill, grog, and rum respectively. Entering these numbers shows you values of 405, 390, and 414. Since 390 is the lowest this means grog is the best buy. Further, let's say you wanted 30 units of rum. Entering 30 in the rum amount field tells you that 75 units of swill or 50 units of grog has the same amount of alcohol. It also shows you that the total price of the suggested amounts is 2025, 1950, and 2070. Since, in this example, grog shows to be the best value, you'd buy 50 units of grog (and save 120 poe).

- Units
- Enter in how many units of each product you have.
- ×
- Multiplying by this number gives you the products' units-of-rum equivalent. For example, 10 units of swill is the same as 4 units of rum.
- Rum units
- The product of 'units' and '×' . If you could convert swill or grog into it's alcoholic equivalent in rum, this is how much you'd have.
- Total
- The sum of rum units. If you could convert all your holdings to its alcoholic equivalent in rum, this is how much you would have.
